What is peace?
Wholeness, whole health, and complete welfare are the main meanings of "peace" in the Old Testament. It encompasses all of God's blessings to a member of the covenant community.
It also means focusses on repairing relationships between people and between God and humanity.
It is believed that Jesus, who is seen as the link between God and humanity, brought about the peace via his life, death, and resurrection.
How to show peace as a christians?
Showing peace as a Christian is very essential cause matt5:9 says” blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God
1.Be grateful always
According to the Bible, we should always express gratitude (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Even in the most trying circumstances, we may find something to be grateful for, but it doesn't imply we have to be grateful for everything. This season, you might be forced to have an awkward conversation or wait in an excruciatingly lengthy queue to cross off the final task on your Christmas to-do list. In these situations, it's very simple to succumb to pessimism and begin griping about your current situation.
Being grateful is the antidote to negativity, and choosing to be grateful is more of a preventative measure to bring about serenity. Everyone has witnessed how one person's pessimism or whining can alter the entire ambiance in a room, but it may also have the opposite effect. One grateful, upbeat individual can transform the entire environment into one of tranquilly. Therefore, keep in mind that you may frequently steer the conversation in a different way by only expressing your gratitude when someone asks you to join in their whining.
2.Give support
extending kindness to others and clinging to words of support that have been uttered over or into our life. These words of wisdom can courageously inspire us to accomplish great things for the glory of God. Peace is also promoted by support because it is more difficult to be irritated by someone who is complimenting you.
3. Be generous
Generosity is expected in a Christian's life. As a matter of fact, the early church members distributed their riches to people in need by selling personal property.
4. Always forgive
Make an effort to forgive yourself and other people. Forgiveness creates calm and healing, whereas bitterness and discontent can result from not forgiving.
5.Show love to one another
- Be kind and loving to others, especially those who are different or in need. A potent factor for harmony and peacemaking is love.6. Pray for peaceGod commands us to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-2), for our city's peace (Jeremiah 29:7), and for Jerusalem's peace (Psalm 122). The spiritual weapon of peace is prayer. For our houses and the communities around them, as well as for cities and countries. Our fight is not against others, as the apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6, and evil, division, and war are fuelled by spiritual powers. Since this is a spiritual conflict, we must employ a spiritual weapon. The Bible is that weapon; we are to pray the Bible over our circumstances that require God's supernatural peace. The power of our spiritual adversaries is broken in this way.7. Always worshipOne of the most amazing ways to change the spiritual climate around you is via worship. I adore how 1 Samuel 16 exemplifies this idea. Saul, the king at the time, was plagued by tyrannical and demonic spirits, but he saw the power of worship and called upon David, a shepherd kid who was well-known for being a devout follower of the only true God.And David would play the harp anytime Saul was disturbed by God's tormenting spirit. Then the torturing spirit would leave Saul and he would feel better. The disturbed king found solace in David's modest worship. Singing and listening to worship music is another way that you can alter the spiritual atmosphere. What will make me have peace as Christian?1. Make a connection with God: in other to connect with God as a Christian, we have to prayerfully.Sharing joys, sorrows comfort weakness and other things of life in a regular conversation brings peace. Cause God answers prayer and brings comfort to the broke hearted. Another way to also get a close connection to God is regular, reading and meditating of the Bible’ which is the word of God. Joshua 1:8 says “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”I will interpret the success as peace. And lastly seek God’s presence. In the presence of God there is fullness of joy Matt:33 seek him first and evry other things will be added unti you.Been in the presence of God bring in peace and joy and every other thing you made as a request to him.2. Forgiveness is the ultimate: like i said earlier forgive yourself and others. You must also practice justification by faith, by letting the past go and believe that God has forgiven you. 2cor5:17 make us to understand that” Therefore if any may be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are new.”Let us also forgive others matt6:14-15 "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."3. Put your trust in God, he never fails Even in the face of difficulties, have faith in God's plan for your life and give Him your anxieties and fears.4. Always be thankful even for the little things. God will do bigger thingsImportance of peace1. The Primary Need: Peace with God (Reconciliation): The greatest peace that humanity lost as a result of sin was peace with God. A hostile state and a distance from a holy God were brought about by our rebellion.- According to the gospel, Jesus Christ is our peace because he broke down the barrier between God and humanity by paying the price for our sins via his atoning death on the cross. In accordance with Ephesians 2:14-16, "For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility... by reconciling both of them to God through the cross."- Romans 5:1 assertively states, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." We can establish a proper relationship with our Creator through this serenity, which is a gift rather than something we have to earn.2. Good News of Harmony: The "Gospel of Peace" is the term used to describe the very message of salvation (e.g., Ephesians 6:15, referring to the "shoes of the gospel of peace" in the armour of God). This shows that the restoration of harmony and completeness lies at the heart of the good news that Jesus brought.- Angels announced: "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests" was the angelic declaration upon Jesus' birth (Luke 2:14). According to Isaiah 9:6, Jesus is the "Prince of Peace" that was promised.3. A Gift from Christ: In addition to inner peace with God, Jesus also delivers a supernatural inner peace that the world is unable to supply. Jesus says to his disciples, "I give you my peace; I leave you peace," in John 14:27. The world gives, but I don't give to you. Don't be scared or allow your emotions to be disturbed.-Protecting Minds and Hearts: When we pray to God, we are assured that the "peace of God, which transcends all understanding," will "guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:7).-Fruit of the Spirit: One of the "fruit of the Spirit" mentioned in Galatians 5:22 is peace, which is also a direct outcome of the work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life.4. Peace Between Humans (Unity and Reconciliation): Dismantling Hostility: The peace that Jesus offers transcends boundaries between various social groupings, such as the Jew and Gentile in Ephesians 2.-Call to Peacemaking: According to Matthew 5:9, Christians are specifically asked to be "peacemakers," actively attempting to end hostilities, advance reconciliation, and foster harmony within their communities, interpersonal relationships, and the wider world.5. Seeking Peace: According to Romans 12:18, "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." This recognises that not everyone will want peace, but it is the duty of the Christian to actively seek it out.- Harmony in the Body: According to Ephesians 4:3, Christians are obligated to "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" inside the church. In conclusion, peace in the Gospel is a complex reality that includes the active pursuit of harmony and fairness in all human interactions, the inner peace that the Holy Spirit offers, and the reconciliation with God made possible by Jesus. It is essential to God's story of redemption and a hallmark of His Kingdom.
