Since having a glad heart has many advantages, joy is a great asset to have in our life. Joy is one of the main attributes of God's Kingdom. The explanation is that joy spreads God's love through us and aids in the establishment of His Kingdom in our lives.
Because of our redemption, joy is significant in the Christian life. In Luke 10:20, Jesus warned the apostles, "But do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven." We should be happy about this. To others, our happiness serves as a reminder that we are unique due to our salvation. I once overheard a non-Christian tell a Christian, "I want what you have, and you have a deep internal joy." This happiness should make us stand out from the crowd so that people want what we have.
The joy of salvation was mentioned by King David in two separate Psalms. "O LORD, how greatly the king will rejoice in Your salvation, and in Your strength!" he said. Psalms 21:1. He also penned, "Susten me with a willing spirit and restore to me the joy of Your salvation" (Psalms 51:12).
The Christian life can also be joyful when one is part of a community. God sent a man named Elisha to assist Elijah after granting him rest (1 Kings 19:19–21). We also require people with whom we may confide our sorrows (Ecclesiastes 4:9–12). According to Hebrews 10:19–25, "Brothers and sisters... let us think about how we may encourage one another towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
The Christian life is supposed to be characterised by joy. It is a gift from God and a fruit of the Holy Spirit. This gift is best received when we concentrate on the reality of God, communicate with Him via prayer, and depend on the community of believers that He has established.
