Self control

The term 'temperance,' which means self-control or moderation, is commonly used throughout the Bible. However, self-control is sometimes seen as abstinence. Despite being the last fruit on the list, this is by no means the least. The Fundamentals of Self-Control Building a personal relationship with God by abide in Christ and obeying the Holy Spirit's instructions is necessary for exercising self-control. The ability to refrain from sinful behaviour is made possible by the glorious Trinity. Self-discipline requires courage, faith, trust, and prayer. Example of self control  1.Jesus's Self-Control: Jesus did not take revenge or use his position of authority to get out of his suffering, even after being ridiculed, thrashed, and executed. 2.Daniel's Self-Control: By putting his faith and adherence to God's instructions above eating the king's meal, Daniel showed self-control. 3. Nehemiah's Self-Control: Despite resistance and attacks, Nehemiah remained in...

Kindness's Persistent Power: A Biblical Viewpoint (Abraham’s hospitality)

Abraham was sitting at the door of his tent in Mamre in the sweltering heat of the day. He was a wealthy and powerful man who might have taken cover from the sun's unrelenting rays. However, the events that followed, as chronicled in Genesis 18, are a timeless example of radical hospitality and provide important lessons that are still relevant today. Abraham's astute insight abruptly interrupts the atmosphere of peaceful repose at the beginning of the story.  "When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground." (Genesis 18:2)  He is confronted by three individuals who appear to be regular travellers. The first noteworthy lesson is Abraham's fast and courteous action, which he demonstrated without hesitation. He doesn't evaluate their position or wait to be asked. By default, he serves The first notable lesson is Abraham's fast and courteous action, which he demonstrated without hesitation. He doesn't ...

Faithfulness

The foundation of faithfulness is loyalty and trust. "Now faith is a confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see," according to Hebrews 11:1. Being faithful to God is vital for Christians. Believing in Him is one thing; being faithful to Him is quite another. Being faithful means being dependable, steady, and unflinching. The Bible describes this kind of fidelity in four different ways: as a quality of God, as a quality that some people possess, as a quality that many people lack, and as a fruit of the Holy Spirit. As in the case of the Christians in Ephesus and Colossae (Ephesians 1:1; Colossians 1:2), faithful can also mean "believing." Example of faithfulness  1. In God's whole home, Moses was obedient (Numbers 12:7; Hebrews 3:2, 5).  2. King Saul did not value David's loyalty as a son-in-law or as a priest to God (1 Samuel 2:35 and 1 Samuel 22:14).  3. Samuel was regarded as faithful even as a young boy serving before God (1 S...

Kindness's Persistent Power: A Biblical Viewpoint( the good samaritan)

Today we are going to talk about one the examples of kindness as discussed in  Kindness's Persistent Power: A Biblical Viewpoint Today’s example is going to be the good samaritan " The Good Samaritan Parable" One of Jesus's most memorable and influential parables is the Good Samaritan narrative, which is told in Luke 10:25–37. It is much more than just a story; it is a profound ethical lesson that challenges listeners of all ages to rethink what "neighbour" means and adopt a radical, unselfish compassion. The Situation : A Lawyer's Inquiry A lawyer who is knowledgeable in religious law tries to put Jesus to the test at the start of the story. He enquires, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" In response, Jesus requests that the lawyer remember the Law. One of the Greatest Commandments, which the lawyer properly quotes, states, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your st...

Patience part 2

Importance of patience   1.Spiritual Development: Even when things don't happen right away, patience is required to trust God's plans and wait for His timing. "Be strong and courageous; wait patiently for the LORD," says Psalm 27:14. "Wait for the LORD with patience!" exhorts people to wait for God with patience.  2.Relationships: In relationships, patience promotes forgiveness and understanding. As stated in Colossians 3:12-13, "clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience" when interacting with other people.  3.Ministry: Since believers are expected to remain composed and persist in the face of hardship, patience is essential in ministry. 4.God's Character: God is said to be patient and long-suffering, and believers are blessed with His patience, which is a mirror of His character. The Bible also emphasises the benefits of patience, such as the capacity to endure hardships and be granted the crown of life....

"More Than Just Being 'Nice': Uncover the World-Changing Potential of True Goodness"

Working for the good of others, not oneself, is what it means to be good; Paul reiterates this in Gal. 6:10. Another godly quality is faithfulness, which is the ability to constantly follow through on commitments. According to Matthew, Jesus describes himself as gentle. As a trait of God and a fruit of the Holy Spirit, "goodness" includes moral qualities such as virtue, righteousness, and benevolence. It is an idea that manifests itself in ways that are consistent with God's plan and reflect His character, including deeds, motives, and character. How to show goodness  1. Love and compassion:  -Put God first: Give your relationship with God first priority and let His love guide your behaviour.  -Love your neighbour: Show the love of God to everyone in your vicinity, even the hardest people to love.  -Be kind: Be considerate to the needs of others, particularly those who are suffering or in need.  -Treat your adversaries with kindness: Reflect God's fo...

The greatest power of kindness is demonstrated in practice to our enemies and the weakest among us. Kindness is unselfish, sympathetic, and merciful. Have compassion for everyone; love your neighbour. We only need to look at Jesus as the finest example of biblical kindness. In addition to being used to characterise those who exhibit kindness as a virtue, kindness is frequently connected to God's character in the Bible. You can tell when someone has been good to you. Receiving sincere kindness inspired by the pure heart of another person is unique. They don't have any plans. Examples of kindness   1. The good samarithan (luke10:25-37) 2.  Abraham’s hospitality genesis 18 3. David’s kindness to mephiboseth sam 9 4. The widows offering  5. Joseph kindness All this we will look on some other day. Patience

a strong belief in God's timing and plan, persevering through hardships with unshakeable faith. The word "patience" in Galatians 5:22 literally translates to "long temper," as in "the ability to hold one's temper for a long time." "In your patience possess ye your souls," Jesus said (Luke 21:19). Additionally, he emphasised Matthew 24:13 NKJV, which states, "He who endures to the end shall be saved." It takes time to achieve certain goals, and some things don't happen right away. How to be patient   1.Recognise God's Patience with You: God is the perfect illustration of patience: 2 Peter 3:9 states, "The Lord is not slow to fulfil his promise as some count slowness, but is patient towards you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." Acknowledging God's great tolerance towards people, including your own transgressions, can motivate you to show others the same grace. The e...

Even in the most trying circumstances, we may find something to be grateful for, but it doesn't imply we have to be grateful for everything. This season, you might be forced to have an awkward conversation or wait in an excruciatingly lengthy queue to cross off the final task...

The transformative power of God’s love:A gospel perspective

Love is kind and patient; it is neither boastful nor envious, nor is it haughty or conceited. It does not demand its own way; it is neither agitated nor bitter; it rejoices in the truth rather than in wrongdoing. Love endures everything, believes everything, hopes everything, and bears everything. Important facets of the love gospel:  God's Love: The Gospel emphasises how Jesus Christ's sacrifice demonstrates God's unwavering love for the world. It is believed that this love serves as the cornerstone of the relationship between God and humanity. One famous scripture that summarises this idea is John 3:16.  Love for other people: Christians are urged by the gospel to love one another as Christ has loved them. This love is supposed to be a concrete manifestation of faith that shows believers' compassion and solidarity. The gospel places a strong emphasis on loving God with all of one's heart, soul, and intellect. A key component of the Christian faith and keeping Go...

The importance of joy as a christian

Since having a glad heart has many advantages, joy is a great asset to have in our life. Joy is one of the main attributes of God's Kingdom. The explanation is that joy spreads God's love through us and aids in the establishment of His Kingdom in our lives. Because of our redemption, joy is significant in the Christian life. In Luke 10:20, Jesus warned the apostles, "But do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven." We should be happy about this. To others, our happiness serves as a reminder that we are unique due to our salvation. I once overheard a non-Christian tell a Christian, "I want what you have, and you have a deep internal joy." This happiness should make us stand out from the crowd so that people want what we have. The joy of salvation was mentioned by King David in two separate Psalms. "O LORD, how greatly the king will rejoice in Your salvation, and in Your strength!"...

The importance of the gifts of the holy spirits

Glorifying God: The Holy Spirit's gifts serve as a testament to God's omnipotence and omnipotence, ultimately leading people to Jesus Christ. 4.Witnessing to the World: By sharing the gospel and reaching out to the lost, these gifts are intended to show the world God's love and grace.  5.Personal Development: As Christians use their gi...

The importance of the fruits of the spirit

Chapter 5 of the Epistle to the Galatians states that "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." These nine qualities are collectively referred to as the Fruit of the Holy Spirit (sometimes called the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. In the preceding lines, the works of the flesh are contrasted with the fruit. Importance of the Fruit of the Spirit: 1. Reflects God's Character: Believers become more like Jesus as a result of the fruit of the Spirit, which makes God's character and qualities clear. 2.Character Transformation: By conquering their previous sinful nature and cultivating godly characteristics, believers are able to become more like Christ.  3.Positive Effect on Relationships: By developing these attributes, believers are better able to serve, love, and relate to people in a way that reflects God's love. 4.Faith Outwardly Manifested: A believer's faith and obedience to God...

Differences between fruits and gifts of the spirit

The Holy Spirit's "gifts" and "fruit" are both discussed in the Bible. Are they the same? If not, how does it differ, and should we prioritise developing one over the other? The Bible's teachings on the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit might often overlap because both are ultimately given to us by the Spirit of God, but they can also differ. At the most fundamental level, we get gifts from the Spirit; over time, we develop the fruit of the Spirit. Natural talents are not the same as spiritual gifts. All people, whether or whether they are Christians, were made in the image of God, and as a result, we all possess innate abilities from birth. However, the abilities we are born with are not the same as the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which are described in Romans 12:6–8 and 1 Corinthians 12:4–11, 28. These abilities include prophecy, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, mercy, wisdom, faith, healing, and others. While talents provide entertainment and inspir...
